Los Frutales Residential Complex in San Bernardino

4 townhouses with a ground floor, upper floor, and attic

Shared pool with afternoon shade and a seating area inside(!) the pool for up to 6 people — perfect for happy hour!

The “Los Frutales” residential complex, in the central area of San Bernardino, consists of 4 small townhouses, each with its own terrace and one parking space, plus a shared garden with fruit trees. The pool has a seating area for up to 6 people. Each house can accommodate 1-3 people. Minimum rental period is 3 months. The kitchens are equipped with pots, pans, dishes, glasses, kitchen appliances, etc. Towels, pillows, and bed linens are either brought by the guest or can be purchased at cost price. Internet is provided via Starlink. Each house has its own covered terrace and its own grill. Each private outdoor area includes a small natural patch for plants or grass, where a small dog can spend some time on its own and has a spot to relieve itself.

It’s 150m to the paved road, where there’s a bus line running toward Altos/Loma Grande or toward Ypacaraí/San Lorenzo. A taxi driver lives in the neighborhood and is happy to take rides as well.

It’s 1,800m, or a 3-minute drive, to the large central Superseis supermarket in the center of San Bernardino. A closer supermarket is 550m away and within walking distance. The German market in San Bernardino, held every Saturday, is 2.6km away — a 6-minute drive by car.

Water comes from groundwater and is included. Electricity is billed per house via its own meter. Pool cleaning and garden maintenance are available through a paid service. There’s a trash collection service, paid directly to the collector.

There’s an electric gate for car access. Visitors can announce themselves or ring via a video intercom. In addition to a key card, the front doors also have access codes.

Casa 1 is rented long-term.

Casa 2 has slightly higher-end features, including an alarm system, TV, dishwasher, and a 1.80m-wide double bed. That’s why it’s more expensive than Casa 3 and Casa 4. It’s suitable for 3 people and has its own large fruit tree in the private terrace area.

Casa 3 is set up more for singles or a couple, with a sofa bed in the office for visitors and extra storage space. The mini garden that belongs to the house gets some sun.

Casa 4 is set up for up to 3 people.

What sets Los Frutales apart from many other vacation homes in Paraguay?

Los Frutales was deliberately designed to offer guests a level of comfort that’s often missing in many (vacation) homes in Paraguay. While many houses don’t allow toilet paper to be flushed, here a system is installed that easily handles two-ply toilet paper – a small detail that makes everyday life noticeably more pleasant. In every house, there’s a bidet shower next to the toilet, and the bathroom sinks have cabinets underneath. The house also features its own washing machine, a private grill, as well as hot water at both the kitchen counter and the outdoor kitchen, which is by no means standard in Paraguay. The kitchen is equipped with upper cabinets and a sturdy granite countertop and offers – along with plenty of cabinets, a storage room, and an attic – an unusually generous amount of storage space. Cooking is done on ceramic glass cooktops rather than gas. There are smoke detectors in the living and bedrooms. The power supply is the more powerful three-phase electricity. The outlets are a combination of Paraguayan sockets and grounded German Schuko sockets. Modern inverter air conditioning units, which run significantly more energy-efficiently, keep the indoor climate comfortable. The location also makes a difference: close to the center of San Bernardino, with a bus line right outside the front door and a supermarket within walking distance. In the kitchen you’ll find not just pots and plates, but many kitchen tools as well, so real cooking is possible. A seating area in the pool (bring your own drink) provides relaxation – and one small detail shows just how much thought went into comfort: the internet router can be switched off from the bed, for whenever you really want to unplug completely.
